Depression


DEPRESSION

Depression is an extremely debilitating illness which affects not only the individual, but can also have a detrimental effect on their interaction with family and friends, with their worklife and social life, their confidence and self-esteem, and ultimately, restricts the enjoyment of their life.

Many people 'suffer' in silence, believing that they will never get rid of their depression, and go through life without seeking help believing that depression is just 'part of them'. Actually, depression can be very successfully helped by the use of hypnotherapy.

Some common symptoms of depression and depressive illness:

  • Consistant feelings of sadness, loneliness or tension.
  • A loss of enjoyment in everyday activities for prolonged periods of time.
  • Significant weight loss or gain.
  • Insomnia, a change in sleeping patterns: increased sleep, inability to get to sleep or constant early waking.
  • Lethargy, feeling tired all the time and having less energy.
  • Decreased ability to concentrate or remember.
  • Increased pessimistic thoughts.
  • A reduction in decision making skills.
  • Feeling worthless, ashamed, guilty, or having a decrease in the level of self-worth or self-esteem.
  • Suicidal thoughts.
